ISI/DI: For those who missed my earlier explanations I’ll repeat this little, but well-known, fact concerning the occupation of lands once belonging to Islam.
Islam (Muslims) believe that once a plot of ground or a country becomes the property of Islam — usually by subterfuge or the sword, no matter how long ago or how many times it may have changed hands, that bit of land is, and always will be, the property of Islam. Hey, I can’t make this stuff up. This can be seen on the island of Cyprus, where Turkey made claims of ownership in the late 1980s and still does today. Another attempt at this ownership plan came not too long ago when Turkey tried to lay claim to a number of the Grecian Isles. This is still being contested.
When I first heard that Islam is a “way of life,” I thought, “just another saying.” Now, however, I’m much more aware of the meaning. It’s key to why Muslims do not assimilate with other cultures.
Muslims believe Islam is a complete way of life and is present in every field of human existence. Islam provides guidance for all aspects of life — individual and social, material and moral, economic and political, legal and cultural, and national and international.
It may help to think of it this way: Christianity and much of western civilization usually think of life in terms of being horizontal; there is religion, business/work, family, etc., and it’s normal (not necessarily right) for us to keep these separate and at times private. We establish a set values and try to live our lives accordingly. God may (and should) be at the center of these values, much like the spokes of a wheel. These values we say, are truth.
In Islam, they think more in terms of things being vertical. In some ways they have mastered the art of everything being integrated. At the top is Allah, and everything else is second. Where these things may fall in being “second”depends on the situation …… situational ethics, if you’re familiar with that term. To Muslims, truth depends on the situation.
According to Imam Al-Ghazali, a famous Muslim theologian who lived at the end of the first millennium, the Qur’an teaches that it is permissible to lie. Here is what Al-Ghazali says:
“Speaking is a means to achieve objectives. If a praiseworthy aim is attainable through both telling the truth and lying, it is unlawful to accomplish through lying because there is no need for it. When it is possible to achieve such an aim by lying but not by telling the truth, it is permissible to lie if attaining the goal is permissible.”
Again, situational ethics.
The ICC has issued arrest warrants in the Israel-Hamas war.
ISI/DI: The ICC — the International Criminal Court (ICC) is an intergovernmental organization and international tribunal seated in The Hague, Netherlands. The ICC has member states, but is itself, unaffiliated with groups like the UN, etc.
Recently, the ICC has issued several warrants concerning the wars between Israel and Hamas and Hezbollah. One person on the receiving end of said warrants is Benjamin Netanyahu. The court’s legitimacy is questioned by some and accepted by others. France and the United States do not rubber-stamp the ICC, however, there are a select number of cities, states, and countries who, at least in this instance, are siding with the Court.
It is truly a mixed bag, though, as a number of the Court’s rulings and warrants have been called into question. One such warrant has been issued for Benjamin Netanyahu, claiming genocide for his role in protecting Israel.
For my part, I think the court is misinformed and/or biased, much as I see the United Nations (UN).

ISI/DI: After defecating, a Muslim must wash with water using the left hand, or an odd number of smooth stones or pebbles called jamrah or hijaarah a (Sahih Al-Bukhari 161, Book 4, Hadith 27). Many jurists agree that toilet paper suffices in place of these stones.
The legal premise for the permissibility of wiping over socks is the hadith of Mughira Ibn Shu’bah who reported that the Prophet (Muhammad) wiped over [his] socks and foot-wear [during ablution — the act of washing oneself]. The hadith was recorded by Ahmed, Abu Dawud, and At-Tirmidhi who declared it authentic.
