ISI/DI: The Abraham Accords continue to roll forward as peace and normalization between Sudan and Israel appears to be finally at hand.
Why is Sudan important?
It was once the largest food producer in Africa. If its agricultural potential can be turned on then it will serve as a solution for food scarcity concerns across Africa. More than that, it is one of the largest countries in Africa and has been solidly anti-Israel for decades. Up until recently it was an ally of Iran. Landing Sudan as a partner pushes back on Iran’s ability to control the Red Sea and cause havoc for shipping — especially shipping coming out of Israel.
