ISI/DI: I spent my early school-age years in South Texas — Austin, then Houston — as a kid I grew up with the Texas Rangers (no, not the baseball team) and then again, my first year of marriage, we lived in Dallas. When I read this and other articles about the “Islamic Center,” I felt at ease knowing that the Rangers along with other Texas law enforcement agencies would be on top of things.

ISI/DI: The death of Christians in Nigeria should be labeled genocide. Most, if not all the killings, has been done by Boko Haram, who gives their allegiance al-Qa‘ida and the Islamic State (IS) ‘et al.’
Boko Haram, which refers to itself as “Jama‘atu Ahl as-Sunnah li-Da‘awati wal-Jihad” (JASDJ; Group of the Sunni People for the Calling and Jihad) and “Nigerian Taliban” — other translations and variants are used — is a Nigeria-based group that seeks to overthrow the current Nigerian Government and replace it with a regime based on Islamic law. It is popularly known in Nigerian and Western media as “Boko Haram,” which means “Western education is forbidden” (the word boko is a holdover from the colonial English word for book). The group, which has existed in various forms since the late 1990s, suffered setbacks in July 2009 when clashes with Nigerian Government forces led to the deaths of hundreds of its members, including former leader, Muhammad Yusuf.
ABUBAKAR SHEKAU
In July 2010, Boko Haram’s former second-in-command, Abubakar Shekau, appeared in a video claiming leadership of the group and threatening attacks on Western influences in Nigeria. Later that month, Shekau issued a second statement expressing solidarity with al-Qa‘ida and threatening the United States. Under Shekau’s leadership, the group has continued to demonstrate growing operational capabilities, with an increasing use of improvised explosive device (IED), vehicle-borne IED (VBIED), and female suicide attacks against a wide range of targets. The group set off its first VBIED in June 2011. On 26 August 2011, Boko Haram conducted its first attack against a Western interest — a vehicle-bomb attack on UN headquarters in Abuja — killing at least 23 people and injuring more than 80. A purported Boko Haram spokesman claimed responsibility for the attack and promised future targeting of US and Nigerian Government interests.
AL-QA’IDA FLAG
Boko Haram’s capability increased in 2014, with the group conducting near-daily attacks against Christians, security and police forces, the media, schools, politicians, and Muslims perceived as collaborators. Boko Haram continued to raise its international profile in 2015, pledging allegiance to the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in March — and publicly using the name “ISIL-West Africa Province” and similar variants — and conducting simultaneous suicide bombings in N’Djamena, Chad, in June — the first such attack in that country’s capital.
Boko Haram’s violence — including the kidnapping of 276 schoolgirls in Borno State, Nigeria, in April 2014 — brought international condemnation and in February 2015 provoked a large regional CT offensive against the group that displaced it from the majority of its strongholds in Nigeria. Nonetheless, Boko Haram remains resilient, conducting attacks in neighboring Cameroon, Chad, Niger, as well as Nigeria, emphasizing the threat it poses to Western and regional interests.

The Lifespan Of Islam On Earth
THE NARRATIVE: There are multiple examples in Islam’s holy books, specifically, aHadith (sayings and actions of Muhammad) that Islam would last 1,500 years.
Here’s a more detailed explanation:
Source of the Statement: Several Ahadith, found in reputable collections like Sahih Bukhari, Sunan Abu Dawud, and others, state that the Prophet Muhammad said that Islam would have a lifespan of 1,500 years on Earth, after which the Hour (Day of Judgment) would be established;
Significance: This statement is used by some to calculate the approximate time remaining before the end of the world, with some interpretations suggesting that the world will end around 1,500 years after the Hijra (Muhammad’s migration to Medina);
Interpretation and Context: It’s important to note that the interpretation of some Ahadith can vary, and some scholars may not agree with the literal calculation of the end of the world based on this statement;
Current Year in the Islamic Calendar: As of April 1, 2025, we are in the year 1446 AH (Anno Hijri), which is the Islamic calendar year.
Relevant Ahadith: Muhammad said: “Allah has given Islam a lifespan of 1,500 years, then He will establish the Hour.”
Again, in another hadith, Muhammad said: “Islam has a specific lifespan on earth;” these Ahadith state Allah gave Islam 1,500 years then relatively soon after this He would establish the “Hour.'”
In more than 15 ahadith found in the Sahih of Imam Bukhari, Sunnan of Imam Abu Dawwud, Jamii of Imam Tirmidhi and others, Muhammad said Islam has a specific lifespan on earth, these Ahadith state Allah gave Islam 1,500 years, and then relatively soon after this He would establish the “Hour.”
According to Islamic tradition, it was Muhammad himself, through a hadith, who stated that the life of the Islamic community (Ummah) would not extend much past 1,500 years.
If we start with the year that Islam began, 610, add to it 1,500 years, that will give us the year 2110 ……… or, 85 years from 2025.
Why is this important, and what does it mean? It’s importance is realized when we consider the world around us and what is happening today.
It is my belief that what is driving radical Islam has more to do with the eschatology (end times) of Islam rather than any other factor.
Islam is like looking at Christianity in a mirror. What is seen when looking in a mirror is just the opposite of what actually is.
Christianity has a Savior in Jesus Christ; Islam has a savior in a person known as the Mahdi (al-Mahdi); Christianity has seven years of tribulations, as does Islam.
Muhammad did not “invent” Islam — he did not need to. He simply ‘borrowed’ what was already there. I’m sure you’ve heard the maxim, ‘one from column A, one from column B, and so on. Muhammad grew up and lived in a culture-rich area that had several thousand years of inventing and following ‘gods’ of everything. There was also Judaism and Christianity, both of which provided more than enough for Muhammad to build a new religion known as Islam. Just as the two Abrahamic religions stated with Adam and Eve, so does Islam. This allowed for Islam to be called the third Abrahamic religion ……… only, it is not a true Abrahamic religion. That is another story, though.
If we take as fact that Islam is believed to end at the 1,500 year mark, and we can, because it is recorded multiple times in Islam’s holy books. Muslims believe this about their religion.
The next question as I see it, is what takes us from here to there? I see two items:
- The seven years of tribulation; and,
- The savior of Islam.
Back in 2014 there were two people who acknowledged that the Islamic tribulation had begun: Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, a Sunni, and Seyyed Ali Hosseini Khameneh known as Ali Khamenei, a Shi’a.
Al-Baghdadi was the leader of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) / Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). “ISIL” and “ISIS” are both names for the same terrorist group, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, and the difference lies in the translation of the Arabic term “al-Sham” into English: “al-Sham” translates to “the Levant” (ISIL) or “Syria” (ISIS), but both refer to the same group.
ISIL is the more-accurate name, as it recognizes these areas that the group affects and targets, while ISIS refers exclusively to Iraq and Syria.
Seyyed Ali Hosseini Khameneh known as Ali Khamenei is the Sipreme Leader of Iran, is a descendant of the Prophet Muhammad, specifically through the lineage of Ali Ibn Abi Talib, the Prophet’s cousin and son-in-law, and the third Shi’a Imam, Husayn Ibn Ali.
What is significant about these two men is that they are both seen as leaders of their respective religious affiliation — one Sunni and one Shi’a — and they both acknowledge the timing of the tribulation. This is one of the few things that these two very contentious groups — Sunni and Shi’a — have found to be in agreement on.
