ISI/DI: Erdogan has previously said he will not run for re-election in 2028 — which would make an unprecedented fifth term.

He could change his mind but that’s doubtful. I think he’s a bit weary as it stands, now, with run away inflation, a failing economy, and other contenders ready to take him on. He is, however, still hanging on to his idea of a second Ottoman Empire. He is now 70 and in fairly good health, so the formation of a new caliphate may look good to him.

As they say though, inshallah (if god wills it!!).

Turkey has been a member of NATO since 1952, but now has a Muslim president who is supportive of the jihadists and would like to see Turkey turn back the clock to the early 1900s. He is a true believer of Islam.

ISI/DI: The size of the EU’s combined military is 1,913,000. The size of Turkey’s military is 355,200 and is the second largest in NATO after the United States.

Turkey has one of the largest standing armies in NATO and invests significantly in defense, including local defense manufacturing capabilities that produce a range of military hardware, from drones and aircraft to ships and ground vehicles.

The Turkish army is one of the most capable in the world. In terms of comparison with European armies, perhaps only Russia, Britain, and France have better armies. Germany and Poland are indeed significantly strengthening their forces now, but they are still not on the level of Turkey.

Germany has the potential to surpass Turkey in the future. Turkey likely has a better army than Italy, then Spain, Ukraine, and Greece. I estimate that with the support of allies, Turkey would be capable of defeating Russia.

Turkey’s military is often ranked within the top 20 globally in terms of overall strength. Turkey’s military strength is notable for its large and well-equipped standing army, substantial air force, and significant naval capabilities.

Despite its strengths, the Turkish military faces challenges, including regional tensions, the need for modernization in certain areas, and diplomatic strains with some of its NATO allies. Turkey’s involvement in regional conflicts and its strategic ambitions necessitates a careful balance between military readiness and diplomatic engagement.

Turkey’s army is a prominent military force in Europe and globally, characterized by a large and capable force structure, a growing defense industry, and strategic geopolitical influence. However, its exact ranking can vary based on the criteria used for evaluation and the dynamic nature of global military developments.

ISIDI: Bangladesh is not yet an Islamic country, but a democracy, where 92 percent of the population are Muslims. Certain elements of Shari’a are already allowed, such as laws that have to do with inheritance, divorce, etc.

If Shari’a becomes law of the land, it is likely an Islamic state will follow soon afterwards.

ISI/DI: At the turn of this century my wife and I were based in Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia. During that time we visited several countries in South East Asia — Thailand, Laos, and Bangladesh.

ISI/DI: You may recall these pictures above from the last newsletter …… six of the hostages who were murdered by Hamas. What you may not know, and what I did not know, was the manner in which they were murdered.

They were taken hostage …… it was my assumption that they may have died from any number of ways — malnutrition, accident …… but, not bodies being riddled with bullets? That is not just murder, it is an execution.

As a Christian I am quite familiar with the concept of good and evil, original sin, and the depravity of man. I don’t think I’ve ever come across anyone, or any group, that has demonstrated these things like the soldiers of Hamas.

The soldiers of Hamas have demonstrated that they are the most vile of people, performing the most vile of actions. What they have done to other human beings is beyond being unspeakable.

ISI/DI: The Sunni and Shi’a have been trading barbs for years …… about 1,414 to be exact. One wants to vote on new leadership (Sunni); the other wants leadership with a blood-line (Shi’a). I imagine they will continue for the next 86 years. Why 86? Maybe you haven’t heard that Islam is supposed to go out of the religion business by 2110. Yep, that’s the time frame placed on it by Muhammad, himself.

ISI/DI: Most events are now being committed by what is called “Lone Wolf” attackers. Sort of a “get-in and get-out” quickly, while committing some act that will bring notice to themselves. Lots. Ding done with knives these days — some guy knifing three people on a train; someone else slipping it to another candidate at a restaurant. Makes headlines.

It’s been a while since anything like 9/11 …… hopefully, it will be a much longer time before the next one …… if ever.
